Latvian transport days in Ukraine

The aim of the Latvian Transport Days in Ukraine was to promote new opportunities for cooperation and to develop the Latvian transit industry. The program of the event from August 30 to September 1 included a meeting with top-level state and municipal officials, establishing business contacts, attending the international exhibition and conference Trans Expo Odessa 2021.

In cooperation with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency, Latvian entrepreneurs participated in the exhibition with the joint VIA Latvia stand.

Uldis Reimanis, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, emphasized at the opening of the Transport Days: “The Ministry of Transport, together with Latvijas Dzelzceļš (LDz) continues to attract new cargo, work on cargo diversification and containerization. We are looking for opportunities to build new logistics chains and Ukraine is one of the markets where we see good potential for cooperation. At the same time, the Latvian transport sector can offer a much wider range of services than just freight transit. Industrial development in our ports provides opportunities to offer a wider range of development opportunities, including production in the areas of Free Ports and Special Economic Zones, taking advantage of tax incentives. Ports continue to develop tourism and passenger transportation, we have the potential to develop both cruise ship traffic and passenger ferry transport to ports. Therefore, it is important to further develop the priorities - cargo diversification, attraction of containers and ro-ro cargo, development of industrialization, attraction of investments, development of wider logistics services, passenger transportation. ”

In addition to participating in the exhibition, entrepreneurs visited the port of Odessa, met with the management of the Port of Odessa and the Odessa city administration.
